Annual event raises awareness on dating, interpersonal violence, assault against women, respect and being male allies
Positive Results Center in collaboration with their National Partner, A CALL TO MEN, and Tony Porter, CEO will host its fourth Promoting Health Manhood Conference on Saturday, November 12, at Cal State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) to engage boys and men to raise awareness around respect, mental health, dating/interpersonal violence, and sexual and assault, and teaching them to be allies for the safety of women and girls.
According to the organizers, the conference will provide a safe space for a diverse group of boys and men to freely speak their truth about violence and abuse they’ve experienced, how it’s impacted their lives, and their mental, physical or emotional traumas. The conference aims to engage boys and men to increase awareness of interpersonal, dating, and domestic violence and sexual assault while being proactive in preventing it.
Kandee Lewis, CEO of Positive Results Center, states, “We will greet youth in middle and high school and transitional youth 18-26. We believe men and boys can, will and should play a significant role in preventing and ending violence.”
Since 2016, PRC has engaged over 800 boys and men at the Promoting Healthy Manhood conference and conducted workshops and healing sessions for over 4,599 men and boys and over 340 youth-serving provider agencies. Our conversations around healthy & respectful manhood teaches men ways to support women and girls as advocates and violence disruptors.
