People of Color will be one of the remarkable businesses spotlighted at the 2022 Taste of Soul Festival coming on October 15, 2022.

Jacqueline Carrington started People of Color when her daughter took a strong interest in nail polish in February of 2019. They specialize in selling non-toxic, vegan, cruelty-free nail polish and nail care supplies.

“It rekindled an interest from back in my childhood. I’d skipped wearing nail polish due to playing basketball, but I remember never seeing certain colors on brown hands,” said Carrington. “I wanted to create a nail polish brand that, both, celebrated and represented people of color from all over the world. I want to tell our stories through nail polish collection.”

People of Color launched into action in a couple months later in May 2019. Their purpose is to “create nail polish for People of Color and those who live in color.” Since we all live in a world of color, the brand is meant to represent any and everyone.

Taste of Soul is not new for Carrington, who’s attended multiple festivals throughout the years.

“I love the energy and experience,” she told LAS. “I didn’t have a business before, but now that I do, I just knew I needed to be a part of the celebration.”

Carrington is looking forward to being a part of the Taste of Soul Family. Through the festival, she’s looking to deepen her sense of community as well as be a part of the growth.

“I would love to speak with youth and young adults about entrepreneurship, and the importance of building generation wealth,” the business-owner shared.
