Two Hurt in Crash Involving School Bus in Willowbrook Area

Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving a school bus in the Willowbrook area of the county. The crash was reported on September 28, 2021 around 6:15 a.m. near 131st Street and Avalon Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Last week, the California Legislative Black Caucus (CLBC) elected Sen. Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) chair of the group comprised of African Americans serving in State Legislature.
Bradford, 60, who is the longest serving member in the caucus and the only African American member in the California Senate, is succeeding the CLBC’s outgoing chair Dr. Shirley N. Weber (D-San Diego).

CDU and APLA Health Host Rare ‘Indoor Ground Breaking’ On New Health Facility

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) and APLA Health (APLA) officially announced plans to move forward on a new building located on the CDU campus that would house a new CDU Wellness Center and an APLA clinic during a symbolic “indoor ground breaking” ceremony on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Plans for the upcoming 10,000 square-foot facility were formalized with a signed agreement between the two organizations in February 2019.

Ryan Twyman’s Family Speaks Out in the Wake of Recently Released Shooting Video

The family of an unarmed Black man shot by county sheriffs in Compton joined the Cochran Firm in a press conference June 20, in the wake of a recently released video documenting the incident. 24-year-old Ryan Twyman’s family said that the video made it clear that their loved one was murdered. What’s worse, they said, is the possibility that nothing will be done.

Council Approves Renaming Rodeo Road Obama Boulevard

City Council President Herb Wesson proposed the name change last year and noted that then-candidate Obama held a campaign rally at Rancho Cienega Recreation Center on Rodeo Road in 2007. The 3.5-mile street runs from near the Culver City border east to Mid-City and is not to be confused with upscale Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

Miracle’s YAEP classes commence the following week in the Watts Computer Learning Center equipped with 20 state of the art Workstations. Students will learn the building blocks of entrepreneurial success and leave with a preliminary business plan that includes entry strategies, management team building, marketing and finance as their deliverables at the end of the 9 month program.
