Energy and Gas Assistance Funds Provides Utility Assistance to Families in Need

More support with energy bills is now available to people directly affected by the coronavirus pandemic due to job loss, closures, illness, or for seniors. United Way of Greater Los Angeles is partnering with Southern California Edison (SCE) and Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) to administer SCE’s Energy Assistance Fund (EAF) and SoCalGas’s Gas Assistance Fund (GAF) programs designed to prevent people from falling into financial hardship. As COVID-19 puts thousands more at risk of financial insecurity, EAF and GAF have extended and increased its maximum assistance available.

    Homelessness in Los Angeles County spiked by 12% over the past year to reach an estimated 58,936 people, according to figures released today, with the region’s housing costs outpacing wages and forcing people onto the streets faster than authorities can find them shelter. Free SAT-Prep Workshop, Nov. 10 at Kaiser BHC

High school students can register now for the free SAT-prep workshop to be held Saturday, November 10, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the conference center at Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw Medical Offices, 3782 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90008. The workshop provides instruction and tutoring for all sections. A 30-minute practice test will be held at 8:30 a.m.
