Acclaimed Actor Viola Davis Will be the Featured Speaker at LMU Commencement at SoFi Stadium

Davis garnered Critics Choice, Golden Globe, SAG, BAFTA, and an Academy Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Fences” for Paramount Pictures. She also starred with Denzel Washington in the 2010 revival of the play on Broadway. Her performance earned her a Tony Award, as well as the Drama Critics’ Circle Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and Drama Desk Award.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43rd District) delivered the keynote speech and was named the second recipient of the University’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Social Justice before a capacity crowd during a ceremony held in the campus’ Saint Robert’s Auditorium this past Thursday, January 23.
