White Hall Arts Academy have just been named as a finalist for the fifth annual Accelerator Awards from the Lewis Prize for Music. WHAA provides free and subsidized conservatory level transformative arts education programs to the South L.A., Inglewood, Watts, and Compton communities and online.

Tanisha Hall, entrepreneur, pianist and vocal teacher, turned her grandmother’s longstanding beauty salon into White Hall Arts Academy. The school teaches the arts to people of all ages in South L.A. and beyond. A $1.4 million renovation is underway to expand the school’s reach.
Black-owned business and resources for people of color were highlighted at Rock the Block 2022, a community gathering held on West 54th Street on July 31.
As the nation continues to pivot to make room for pandemic safety precautions, the White Hall Arts Academy (WHAA) does its best to keep student learning and evolving through music. Relaunching its acclaimed Music4LA program, now called HeARTBeats Virtual Arts Program, the WHAA is opening its doors virtually to students across the nation.

That’s all it took for Tanisha Hall to let out a scream in the lobby of White Hall Arts Academy, the music conservatory she founded over nine years ago.
Tucked into a brick-stoned building on 54th Street in South Los Angeles, the school was just granted a plethora of new opportunities thanks to the email announcing a $25,000 COVID-19 Community Response Fund through the Lewis Prize for Music. The organization awarded a total of $1.25 million to 32 programs in the U.S. targeted at teaching youths about music.
