Dorsey senior Adam McKinney is a dual sport athlete, playing football at Santee and joining the Dorsey Dons in time for track season. Football toughened him up and gave him a competitive spark, which helped him in track and field.

In their first of two matches this season, the Crenshaw Cougars boys and girl’s basketball teams defeated their rivals, the Dorsey dons. Both teams started their games strong in front of an away crowd. This was the third consecutive away victory against Dorsey for the Cougars.

His battle with Bipolar Paranoid Schizophrenia led him to homelessness and the Criminal Justice System, showing the lack of institutional resources put in place for people living with mental illness.
The Crenshaw Cougars football team remain undefeated in the Coliseum League play after defeating the Dorsey Dons 51-0 during their Homecoming and Rivalry game. Dorsey made costly turnovers and the Crenshaw offense bested the Dorsey defense.
The Dorsey Dons football team started the second half of their season on a high note by defeating the Augustus Hawkins Hawks 20-0 for their homecoming game. Dorsey secured their first win of the season with pivotal defensive stops and a sound rushing game.
Senior baseball player Elijah Dobson works hard to uphold the name of his school and his family through his acts. Dobson is a second-generation Dorsey student. His father is the head coach of the Dons baseball team.
For the sixth consecutive year, the Carson Colts girls track team won the City Section title on Friday. The team scored 130 points, 76 more points than second place winner Granada Hills. The Palisades boys team snapped the Dorsey Don’s three-year Championship streak. Carson reigned over the sprinting events with junior Ryan Lacefield pacing the 200m and the 400m. The Colts finished the 4x100m in first place in 48.61s and came in second in the 4x400m in 4:03.23. “We just want to continue the legacy of our previous track stars and we want to be on top just like them,”
The Dorsey baseball team endured a tough season and their final home game was no different. Despite earning runs in earlier innings, the Dons lost to the Fremont Pathfinders 6-10. The matchup was senior day for Dorsey as they honored seven players: Elijah Dobson, Korey LaFlora, Elijah Moses, Nolan Smith Robinson, Ozabe Banks, Terry Burton, and Samuel Spann. Both teams only allowed four at bats to start the game. Starting pitcher LaFlora struck out two Pathfinders at the top of the second. Dorsey senior linebacker D’Mar Johnson realizes how the lessons learned during a game can last long after the regulated minutes run out. Football does more than just develop a person’s athleticism. “I just like the contact of the sport and the sport, it gives you an edge on how to become a better person in life,” he said. “It’s not even just a game, it’s really a lifestyle that you live.” Johnson helped the Dons earn an 8-5 overall record and pace the Coliseum League with a 5-0 record. Since her freshman year at Dorsey, Princess Sparks has been playing on the varsity girls basketball team. As a junior, she helped the team reach the Division II City Section championship.
The Dorsey girls basketball team remained undefeated in the Coliseum league when they beat Crenshaw 61-44. Sparks scored 29 points for the Dons, senior Kierra Haynes made 10 rebounds and senior Jaidin LaCount made seven steals.
