GLAAAAC Honors Bakewell Family, Bradford at Economic Awards Dinner

The Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC) will recognize the Bakewell family and State Senator Steven Bradford at its Annual Economic Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m., at the JW Marriott LA Live, 900 West Olympic Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles.

Return of Bruce’s Beach Improves County Fire’s Legacy

Fire Chief Daryl Osby, who oversees the lifeguard division as well as fire service operations, was among the crowd cheering as Governor Newsom signed bill SB 796, which allows county officials to transfer the land – estimated to be worth $75 million – back to the Bruce family. “Being the fire chief of this department and coming to one of the facilities in my department, I always felt that sullied the L.A. County Fire Department’s legacy and today we were able to right that wrong,” he said.

California State Senator Steven Bradford Secures $25,000 Contribution from Phillips 66 and Participates in Food Giveaway

State Senator Steven Bradford (35th District) helped secure a donation of $25,000 to the Gardena Carson Family YMCA through a grant from the Crisis Response Community Relief Project of Phillips 66. The check presentation occurred at the YMCA food giveaway today. Senator Bradford and over 20 volunteers handed out food and fresh produce to hundreds of residents while practicing safe social distancing.
