Reshanda Gray Empowers Youth While Competing with the L.A. Sparks

Giving back can not only help a person in need, but also help the giver by instilling in them a sense of perspective and purpose. This was the case for Los Angeles Sparks forward Reshanda Gray prior to the time she earned a contract with the Sparks. 

The New York Liberty waived Gray in May 26 and the Sparks signed her in June 27. Being waived was difficult news for Gray. 

Brad Pye Jr., Trailblazing Sports Writer and Broadcaster, Passes Away

Brad Pye, Jr., a trailblazing sports writer and broadcaster, passed away July 5, at his home in Los Angeles. Pye, who was recognized throughout the nation for his pioneering efforts on behalf of African American athletes, suffered from various health issues that contributed to his death at the age of 91.

Legendary Sports Journalist Brad Pye Returns Home to the Sentinel

Legendary Los Angeles sportscaster and writer Brad Pye, Jr. returned home to the Los Angeles Sentinel this month and was named by Los Angeles Sentinel Executive Publisher Danny J. Bakewell, Sr. as sports editor emeritus for the newspaper. “It’s a great homecoming and it gives me a great opportunity to get back in the saddle again,” Pye said.
