Overflowing crowd attends Bishop Blake’s 75th Birthday Celebration

A capacity crowd filled the West Angeles Cathedral on July 31 to celebrate the 75th birthday of the Right Rev. Charles E. Blake, presiding bishop of the Church of God in Christ denomination and pastor of West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles. A joyous, God-praising time highlighted the homegoing service of Dr. Rickey Rene Grundy on August 8. The award-winning musician, composer, director and producer passed away on July 27. The legendary Rev. Katherine K. Shivers, pastor emeritus and founder of Tabernacle Christian Forum Church in Compton, passed away in Los Angeles on July 10. For a long time, I resisted the idea of carrying a cell phone. But, as much as I have to communicate from the road, my cell phone has become essential. It is battery operated, which means that it will not run indefinitely. And, it is no fun to be in a situation where you really need to communicate, and you find your cell phone DOA. So, every few days, I make sure to plug my cell phone into a charger, so it is good to go again. Just as a cell phone needs down time to recharge, so do you
