Recent Head Coaches Add More Diversity to NBA

Recently, three NBA head coaching jobs went to African Americans. Jason Kidd is to lead the Dallas Mavericks, Ime Udoka will coach the Boston Celtics and Chauncey Billups will be at the helm of the Portland Trailblazers. This shows how the NBA is attempting to resolve its racial disparities in a predominantly Black league. At the end of the regular season this year, seven out of 30 NBA teams had Black head coaches. Lakers Don’t View Trailblazers as a Underdog Matchup

Lakers don’t view the Blazers as underdogs, says head coach Frank Vogel. Portland was held under 20 points in the first and third quarters, and Vogel expressed that it’s hard to do. “This team was in the Conference Finals last year. We have tremendous, tremendous, respect for the offensive firepower of the team we’re playing, Vogel states. He infers that this series is going to be difficult for them to win.

Offseason Moves Makes Clippers a Contending Team

After a tenacious season, the Los Angeles Clippers now look like the team to beat with the additions of reigning NBA champ Kawhi Leonard and All-Star forward Paul George.  The Clippers also boosted their roster by adding veterans with years of playoff experience.

The Clippers will return to the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2017. This year marks the Clipper’s fifth playoff appearance since Doc Rivers took the helm. As of Tuesday, the Clippers hold the number six spot in the Western Conference with the possibility of playing the Portland Trailblazers in the first round.
