The Paul R. Williams Collection has launched The Paul R. Williams Scholarship & Education Fund, an initiative created to inspire, support, and celebrate young people pursuing careers in architecture.
Paul Revere Williams, born February 18, 1894 with an orphan background, followed his dream of becoming an architect and by the early 1920s was designing homes and commercial buildings in and around Los Angeles. At the time of his death on January 23, 1980, he had created some 2,500 buildings in the United States and around the globe.
The edifice of Second Baptist (SBC) was designed by renowned architect Paul Revere Williams and built in 1926. SBC is working to raise funds for structural damage to its’ balcony, located in the sanctuary.
The monument pays tribute to an African American architect responsible for some of Los Angeles’ historic landmarks.
