Barbara McCoo Lewis Appointed COGIC General Supervisor

The Church of God In Christ, Inc. announced Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis as General Supervisor of the International Department of Women. Lewis was appointed and installed during the April Call Annual Business Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee by Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle, Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr., in conjunction with the approval of the 12 General Board Members. In this role, she will oversee the Department of Women of the 6.5 million-member church. The New Antioch Church of God in Christ’s Women Aware Organization (WAO) will host its Annual Women’s Day Service on Sunday, May 15, at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. The theme is “Greater Works in 2016” based on John 9:4. The keynote speaker is Evangelist Lawanne’ Grant of Charlotte, NC. “Under the leadership of First Lady Floetta Lewis, WAO president, and Missionary Josann Davidson, chairperson, Women’s Day will indeed celebrate the founding purpose of the WAO,” said Superintendent Jeffrey Lewis, pastor.
