Facing deep impacts from COVID-19, Los Angeles County unveils recommended budget for 2020-21

Los Angeles County Chief Executive Officer Sachi A. Hamai has released the County’s 2020-21 recommended budget, a $35.5 billion spending plan expected to undergo extensive changes in the months ahead as revenues decline and costs rise due to the COVID-19 emergency. The County expects an estimated $1 billion drop in revenues as it concludes the current fiscal year, and anticipates an additional $1 billion-plus revenue decline in 2020-21. Homeless Deaths Exceeded 1,000 in 2018

Councilmember Harris-Dawson and Mayor Garcetti Break Ground on New Bridge Housing in Council District Eight

Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Mayor Garcetti broke ground today on a new emergency bridge housing facility that will provide beds for 100 homeless Angelenos at a time, and offer on-site supportive services to help them transition into permanent housing. LAHSA Expanding Host Home Program for Transitional Age Youth

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority announced today it will start seeking bids in August for a variety of interim housing projects — including transitional, bridge and crisis housing – and for a new program aimed at finding homes for youth aged 18-24.
