TV One Partners with National Action Network for Triumph Awards Television Premiere

TV One, the National Action Network (NAN) and Reverend Al Sharpton, are partnering to present the first televised airing of The Triumph Awards. The Triumph Awards, now in its 6th year, honors individuals who have made a positive impact in their community in addition to their professional contributions in their respective fields. The special will tape in Atlanta, GA and is scheduled to premiere on TV One exclusively Friday, October 10 2015 8PM/ET.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Foxx Announces $9.5 Million in Workforce Development Grants

U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx recently announced $9.5 million in grants to 19 projects in 13 states selected to help train a new generation of skilled workers and support long-term careers in the public transportation industry. The announcement was made at the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC), and the grants are provided through the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA)

Witness Said Officers Chased L.A. Woman with Guns before Shooting

A woman who said she witnessed an August 12 fatal officer-involved shooting in the Crenshaw District is claiming that the victim was being chased by police officers with guns drawn before the officers fired three shots. Courtyana Franklin, 21, told the Los Angeles Times on Thursday August 13, that she witnessed the shooting through a side mirror and rear window of her vehicle, which was parked in an alley near Marlton Avenue and Santo Tomas Drive.
