Angel City Games Provides More Sports For Athletes

The 2021 Angel City Games Presented by The Hartford came in time for the holidays at Los Angeles High School instead of UCLA. Despite the change of date and venue, the Angel City Games had the same level of competition, camaraderie, and discovery as it had in previous years.

Student Athlete of the Week: LeTroy Pruitt Jr

LeTroy Pruitt Jr. was excited to be able to compete during his senior year after the pandemic ruined his chances of competing as a junior. This was his first year playing for the Los Angeles Romans football team, he played offensive right guard and defensive nose tackle.

Student Athlete of the Week: Malike Simpson

Los Angeles High school junior, Malike Simpson is a key contributor for the football team. In their 44-0 win over Roybal on Friday, he made nine rushes for 119 yards and two touchdowns along with four catches for 104 yards. His efforts earned him Maxpreps Offensive Player of the Game honors.

Congresswoman’s Sister Remembered as ‘Joyful’ and ‘Radiating’

Watson Bradfield, a trailblazer in her own right, was born July 22, 1938 into a family of trailblazers.  She was the youngest of four children. Her father, William Watson, was one of the first African American police officers in Los Angeles. Her grandfather, Spencer Watson, was a civil rights activist, involved in organizing the pullman porters along with Bayard Rustin. And, her grandmother Belle O’Neal was the surgical nurse who worked on the first open heart surgery with Dr. Clarence Williams in Chicago.
