L.A. Area Chamber and UNITE-LA’S Annual College & Career Convention

17th annual convention helps thousands of local, low-income students plan for college and maximize federal and state financial aid  The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with its affiliate, UNITE-LA, will provide college preparation, financial aid and scholarship training to more than 6,000 students who attend their 17th annual College & Career Convention. The Lakers Youth Foundation Restores Court In South Los Angeles

On August 11th, excitement filled the air as the Los Angeles Lakers along with the Lakers Youth Foundation held a court dedication and health and fitness clinic at the Personal involvement Center to celebrate the refurbishment of the basketball court. Since 1971, the Personal Involvement Center has been a social service agency based in the South Los Angeles community making an impact for the youth and families; improving the quality of lives.

Compton High Students Meet Lakers Legend

NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar invited students from Compton High School to attend the Lakers’ game on Friday to celebrate Black History Month. The students had completed Ever Fi 306—African American History, a computer-based course offered at the high school.
