BCA Revived, Raising Awareness Around Black Coaches in Officiated Sports

Basketball requires unity under the hoop and along the sidelines. International basketball player, Pooh Jeter, understands the need to win as a whole team, which includes the person holding the clipboard.  Resurrecting the energy of diversity within coaching, Jeter is seeking more support for Black coaches by reenergizing the Black Coach Association (BCA). 

Jeter spoke exclusively with the Los Angeles Sentinel, providing the play-by-play as he dissected the reasons athletes need to see their likeness in their coaches and the demand for the collective community to look out for each other. 

Clippers Finalize Purchase of The Forum in Inglewood

   The famed Inglewood venue was purchased from Madison Square Garden Co. by a newly created company called CAPSS LLC, a joint venture of Ballmer and Clippers Vice Chairman Dennis Wong. The Forum will continue to operate primarily as a music venue, with most employees keeping their jobs, according to the company.

The Clippers are Coming to the City of Inglewood

The Los Angeles Clippers revealed last Thursday, renderings of the team’s sports and entertainment arena in Inglewood, planned to open in 2024, when their current lease at Staples Center ends. The Inglewood Basketball & Entertainment Center will include an 18,500-seat world-class arena along with a sports medicine clinic, community courts, park spaces, educational facilities, restaurants and shops. The proposed site will be located on West Century Boulevard between South Prairie Avenue and South Yukon Avenue, and will also be home to the team’s business and basketball offices, training facility, community and retail spaces.

NBA FINES LA CLIPPERS

The NBA announced that it has fined the LA Clippers $50,000 for violating the league’s anti-tampering rule. The fine is in response to comments regarding the Toronto Raptors’ Kawhi Leonard made by Head Coach Glenn “Doc” Rivers in a recent television appearance.

The NBA announced the finalists for six awards that honor top performers from the 2018-19 regular season: Kia NBA Most Valuable Player, Kia NBA Rookie of the Year, Kia NBA Sixth Man Award, Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Kia NBA Most Improved Player and NBA Coach of the Year.

The city of Inglewood hosted a scoping meeting on the proposed Inglewood Basketball and Entertainment Center March 12 – a key milestone in the environmental review process to decide whether the LA Clippers should be allowed to build a new arena and corporate headquarters in Inglewood.
