Memorial Planned for Dr. Harriette F. Williams

Dr. Harriette F. Williams, a notable Los Angeles educator and community leader, passed away at her home on July 28. She was 88-years-old. A self-described “happy volunteer,” Harriette was acclaimed for her distinguished 40-year career at LAUSD, her dedicated service in numerous civic organizations, and unwavering faith as illustrated by her six-decade membership at Trinity Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Baptist, 2040 West Jefferson Blvd., in Los Angeles. BREAKING NEWS: Noted Attorney and Community Activist Michael Lawson Named Interim President of Los Angeles Urban League

The Los Angeles Urban League announced today that noted attorney and civic leader Michael Lawson has accepted the position as Interim President and CEO of the famed civil rights organizations Los Angeles Branch. Michael Lawson is not new to the Los Angeles Community and is well respected throughout both the business, political, philanthropic community here in Los Angeles and throughout the nation. Michael Lawson served as a partner at the international law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flori, LLP in their New York and Los Angeles offices until he retired in 2011.
