The second annual Remember My Name Ball hosted by Debbie Allen and conceived with Jack Mizrahi and playwright Jordan E. Cooper manifested on August 16, at the Rhimes Performing Arts Center in South L.A. Patrons witnessed legends and emerging icons of Ballroom culture deliver dynamic artistry on the runway through dance and rhythmic movement with Black bodies that were opulently adorned.

Standing on this wisdom it’s vital that Black women take the time to take care of the most important person in the world —us. We Black and Brown women are strong no doubt but we have a history of putting others before ourselves and that lack of self-care has proven deadly for us. Deadly for our families, the community, and the advancement in all areas from the largest to the smallest.

11th annual Special Needs Network Pink Pump Gala Tea and Fashion Show

On Sunday, May 19 over 450 powerful women and a few good men came together for the 11th annual Special Needs Network Pink Pump Gala tea and fashion show. This year’s Women of Distinction honorees, actress Vanessa Bell-Calloway, autism self advocate Spencer Harte and TV Personality Robin McGraw, dazzled the audience with heart-filled acceptance speeches.  Attendees dressed in pink to symbolize the power of women philanthropy and to acknowledge the boldness of their collective efforts of supporting children and families.
