Nation’s Premier Autism Awareness Organization Provides Toys, Family Resources & Photos with Santa to LA County’s Most Vulnerable
The Special Needs Network will host its 11th Annual Christmas Care Exchange on Saturday, December 21, 2019 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Mona Park, 2291 E. 121 Street, Willowbrook, CA 90222. The free annual event will include brunch, photos with Santa, family resources, games, live music, holiday arts and crafts, education and a toy giveaway.
This year’s host for the toy drive is actress and comedienne Kym Whitley, and the event’s honorary event chair is Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas. Special Needs Network expects to serve over 1,000 Los Angeles families at the event.
“Our goal is to make the most wonderful time of the year special for all families in and around Los Angeles County,” said Special Needs Network Founder and social advocate Areva Martin. “It’s a privilege to be able to give back to those most in need and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to serve our communities once again this holiday season.”
A new addition to this year’s event will be a pop-up tent featuring young adults with special needs who will be selling holiday coffee drinks and baskets. The you
ng men and women in the pop-up tent are a part of a special jobs training program created by Special Needs Network and Autism Spectrum Therapies.
Each year during the Christmas holiday, Special Needs Network joins with community partners to provide Los Angeles County’s most vulnerable families with the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with other families, thereby breaking the sadness and isolation that many families feel during the holidays. Since the celebration’s inception, Special Needs Network has collected and distributed more than 50,000 toys, books and gifts to families experiencing homelessness and other difficulties.
