About a year ago, Kaiser Permanente Watts Medical Offices opened their doors to the community, enabling residents to have easier access to a myriad of quality health care services closer to home thanks to the new 61,855-square-foot facility, which also houses the Kaiser Permanente Watts Counseling and Learning Center.

The medical offices at 1465 E. 103rd St. in South Los Angeles were built in the heart of the Watts community – an area with a longstanding history of underinvestment and lack of medical facilities. The project demonstrated Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to the community and provides members with improved access to exceptional health services.

In the last year, the Watts Medical Offices have had a profound positive impact on the community. Among others, more than 33,000 adult primary care, nurse clinic, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Population Care Management, Psychiatry and Social Services appointments have been made. More than 3,100 flu shots have been administered to protect members’ health; more than 1,100 mammograms were performed as part of breast cancer prevention; and more than 2,000 x-rays were done.

“Thanks to the support of many community and health care leaders, I’m so proud to say we’re providing the exceptional care Kaiser Permanente is known for right here in Watts,” said Mitchell Winnik, senior vice president and area manager for the Kaiser Permanente Downey Service Area. “This facility has become a pillar in the community.”

Dr. Laurie Anne Chu, medical director for the Downey Service Area, noted: “During the planning and opening of this facility, one non-negotiable goal was having a medical office with many services so that our members didn’t have to travel to get the care they needed. I truly believe we’ve touched countless lives. While we’re celebrating the first year of the Watts Medical Offices, we know there will be more to celebrate in the future.”

Available services at the Watts Medical Offices include adult primary care, behavioral health, laboratory, nurse clinic, Ob-Gyn, pediatrics, pharmacy and radiology.

The Medical Offices are open to Kaiser Permanente members Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To make an appointment, call the Kaiser Permanente Appointment Center at 1-833-574-2273.
