Now-Jun. 10 “Nearly Gone Gal: The Rescued Archives of Nellie Lutcher”, March 11-June 10, will exhibit archival recordings, newspaper articles, personal letters, original photographs, and significant archives related to jazz and pop singer, songwriter and pianist Nellie Lutcher. This year, the Center has the unprecedented opportunity to exhibit and highlight the life and work of jazz pianist and vocalist Nellie Lutcher. We will feature the personal and discarded archives of the artist credited as an influence on Nina Simone and the sound of Jazz and Pop in the 50’s and 60’s. Apr. 15, 16 Presenting Keys For Every Family: Real Estate Conference & Jazz Mixer taking place on April 15 and 16 at the Dollarhide Community Center located at 301 N. Tamarind Ave. in Compton , CA 90220. Mar. 25 Black Talkies On Parade welcomes back jazz historian and archivist Mark Cantor. Mark will present a curated show of shorts and clips celebrating Jazz on the West Coast. The program features a variety of jazz styles from Dixieland, to Bebop, to the vibrant sounds of Los Angele’s own Central Avenue.
