The USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins shook the men’s basketball world with their prominent runs in March Madness. Both teams defied the odds to display their strong programs.
The Galen Center was empty yet again but the Trojans didn’t need a home crowd, extending their dominant win streak to six games fending off the Washington State Cougars, 85-77.
USC sophomore guard, Ethan Anderson has been a tenacious presence on the men’s basketball team. He is not afraid to score in traffic and shake a defender to make a shot.
The USC men’s and women’s basketball teams are excited to compete and are revving up for the tip-off of the 2020-21 season.
The Trojans fell flat against the Colorado Buffaloes Saturday night 78-57, during a game in which USC displayed an abysmal array of shooting from the floor.
The Trojans continued fighting on through the early portion of the season handling Long Beach State with ease in a 87-76 victory.
USC are 5-0 for the first time since the 2017 season when the Trojans got off to a 14-0. 6’9 Freshman Onyeka Okongwu powered to the Trojans to a 91-84 victory over the Pepperdine Waves with a career-high 33 point performance, scoring more than 20 points for the third time in five games. Okongwu lived at the free-throw line all night converting 17-of-21 at the line, which got him settled into his groove for the night. Avoiding foul trouble has been an issue for the Freshman early in the season, but he played more disciplined and showed growth against Pepperdine.
