After a contending run with the Inglewood Sentinels football team, senior quarterback Jared Heywood will take his talents to the University of Rhode Island. He worked hard in order to graduate early while putting up a winning performance on the field.
On April 27, D’Wayne Edwards, who has designed shoes for some of America’s top companies like Nike and Adidas, received an honorary degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Unremarkable as it seems (Edwards has been a professional designer for about 30 years now), it’s not something Edwards imagined would happen for him. But he’s honored nonetheless, to have received the degree; it’s something that has sparked a look back at his life in somewhat of amazement.
High schools throughout Southern California participated in the tournament, including Carson, View Park, Banning, Dorsey and Washington Prep.
“Hey, Hey, Hey… What you got to say? Inglewoooood … Inglewood Swinging!” This was the chant during football and basketball games from many Inglewood High School Sentinels student body in the mid ’70’s.
