Los Angeles Haunted Hayride

Now-Oct. 31 Los Angeles Haunted Hayride (@LAHauntedHayride) returns with the most thrilling ride yet as guests become completely absorbed within the experience. This year’s theme “Clown” will feature four zones guaranteed to make your skin crawl: Haunted Hayride, House Of Shadows, Trick Or Treat, and Purgatory. Take a seat on our Haunted Hayride as we slither through the genuinely haunted woods of Griffith Park’s Old Zoo. The terror of Los Angeles Haunted Hayride begins on September 29th, 2017 and will be open select nights until October 31st, 2017. Operating hours are Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7pm-10:30 pm and Fridays

Halloween Fun!

Oct. 28 Day of the Dead at the cemetery (noon to midnight) in Hollywood. Join the costumed crowds viewing elaborate altars and colorful displays that honor the departed at Dia de Los Muertos, which has live music, arts & crafts vendors, and Mexican food at Hollywood Forever Cemetery; Family Halloween in Marina del Rey. Harvest Days and Haunted Nights offers “kid-friendly fun by day, and spine-tingling spooks by night,” with haunted pirate ships, carnival games, and food vendors at Burton Chace Park. Free except parking.

Former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt famously said it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.
This Halloween season, it is even better — and much safer — if those candles are flameless since nearly 40 percent of the 860 home decoration fires (excluding Christmas trees) annually begin with candles, according to the National Fire Protection Association.

Words of the Week – Halloween: Saints vs. ‘Haints’

Right after Jesus died on the cross, Matthew 27:51-53 tells us: “Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.” It is believed God opened the graves of those who followed Him to underscore Jesus’ resurrection. As a result, people began to celebrate what became known as All Saints Day
