Alice Coltrane, pianist, harpist, organist, composer, singer, and wife of famous jazz saxophonist John Coltrane, would have been 85 years-old on Saturday, August 27th. Her birthday celebration at Grand Park, presented by dublab and The John and Alice Coltrane Home, was one of 19 Grand Performances held at the DTLA park as part of its 36th Annual Summer Concert Series.

What Shall We Do Ministries presented the 2nd Annual Spirit of Thanksgiving Gospel Experience on Nov. 16, in Grand Park, located in downtown Los Angeles. What Shall We Do Ministries, led by Minister Lionel Peters and Joy Peters, is a non-profit faith-based organization serving the community through outreach events and concerts. The Spirit of the Lord engulfed the intimate Grand Park Performance Lawn, (Olive Court -between Grand and Hill Street). The meter, which looks similar to a parking meter, but is bright orange in color and located in Grand Park away from the street, allows people to give loose change or use their credit card for donations that go to an organization which helps homeless people in Skid Row.
