TAYE DIGGS TO HOST FOX’S ‘YOU’RE BACK IN THE ROOM’

Taye Diggs (“The Best Man Holiday”) will host FOX’s YOU’RE BACK IN THE ROOM, the new eight-episode one-hour hypnotic comedy game show. Additionally, award-winning hypnotist Keith Barry, who stars in the original U.K. show, will join as resident hypnotist.

In American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, Courtney B. Vance embodies the late Johnnie Cochran. The nine-part mini-series is the retelling of one of the most controversial cases in pop culture. Vance talks about how current events may be different if Cochran were alive today. With over three decades of experience in the entertainment industry, the Yale and Harvard trained thespian shares the importance of being fiscally responsible in-between gigs which alleviates the pressure of having to take every role that comes across his path. With his extensive filmography including “Fences” on Broadway to “Law & Order”, Vance gets candid about typecasting and the importance of knowing your worth.

Fall TV set to feature proactive, thoughtful Black programming

This fall’s television lineup is bringing much more color to the small screen.

ABC’s runaway hit Black-ish premiered its second season on September 23, where it tackled the controversial use of the N-word. In the episode, the family’s youngest son, Jack’s use of the word sets of a series of panicked reactions from the family and community members alike.

Fox sets eyes on TV diversity during summer TCA

Diversity was at the forefront last Thursday as Fox hosted its annual Television Critics Association (TCA) Summer Press Tour. Perhaps due in part to the success of last year’s breakthrough hit Empire, the network’s Fall lineup features at least four shows with Black cast members in leading and supporting roles.

Actress Niecy Nash received her first Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal as Denise ‘Didi” Ortley on the hit HBO show ‘Getting On’. Emmy winner Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black) and Cat Deeley, (host of So You Think You Can Dance) announced the nominations live from the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 16, 2015.

The ‘Empire’ strikes at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw
