The benefits of being a foster or adoptive parent were highlighted at the Parent Resource Spring Expo hosted by the Baldwin-Bethany Community Development Corporation (BBCDC) on May 20. The mid-day event, held on the campus of Bethany Baptist Church in South L.A., featured several representatives of local organizations seeking to persuade adults to assist children in the L.A. County foster care system. Children’s Bureau is one of the largest private, non-profit adoption agencies in California and one of the few that is nationally accredited by the Child Welfare League of America. In Los Angeles County alone, the foster care population exceeds 33,000 children with 200 of those foster children waiting for an adoptive family.
