Brookins-Kirkland AME Holds Gwen Ifill Stamp Tribute

On Feb. 23, Pastor Mary S. Minor and the congregation of Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church in Los Angeles paid tribute to the late journalist, Gwen Ifill, who is featured on the U.S. Postal Service’s 2020 Black Heritage Stamp and members who worked for the post office.

Attendees Reflect on Biden’s Breakfast Meeting at Dulan’s

At a breakfast gathering held at Dulan’s On Crenshaw soul food restaurant, Biden greeted, chatted and donned an apron and hat to serve meals to more than 60 people who attended the event on iconic Crenshaw Blvd., in South Los Angeles.  He outlined his reasons for running, saying that he wants “to restore the soul of the country,” and he also took time to take a shot at President Donald Trump, referring to Trump’s recent Twitter comments, which disparaged four Democratic congresswomen and stated that they should  “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came.”

In the wake of the March 31 murder of Ermias Asghedom, known worldwide as Nipsey Hussle, L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas has been at the forefront of engaging resources to stop the violence and heal the community in South Los Angeles. Brookins-Kirkland AME Shows Appreciation to Pastor Minor

Brookins–Kirkland Community AME Church saluted the spiritual and executive leadership of Pastor Mary S. Minor during an appreciation service on October 15. The theme was “Our Pastor Shows Love Still Works” based on I Corinthians 13:1-13. The Steward and Trustee Boards sponsored the program. Pastor Darryl Walker and the members of New Philadelphia Church were the special guests. The pastor’s family also attended the service. In addition, Minor took time to recognize Trustee Willie Mayes (right) on his recent appointment as an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration.
