SAG-AFTRA STATEMENT ON THE ARREST OF JOSIE HUANG

SAG-AFTRA today released the following statement regarding the arrest of KPCC journalist Josie Huang on Saturday:
 
This past Saturday, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department deputies tackled, held down, handcuffed and arrested SAG-AFTRA member Josie Huang, a public media journalist with radio station KPCC. Huang was visibly credentialed as a working journalist and verbally identified herself as a member of the press. She had done nothing to warrant questioning much less arrest.

Compton to Require Face Masks within City Limits; Warning Followed by a $500 Citation

In the continuous effort to keep Compton residents as safe and healthy as possible from the COVID-19 virus, the City issued an Emergency Service Order for Administrative Citations imposing fines to anyone within City limits failing to wear a face mask and business owners failing to comply with Los Angeles County shutdown orders and restrictions in accordance with the City’s local COVID-19 emergency order.

MLB player Yasiel Puig’s Wildhorse Children’s Foundation partnered with the Mayor of Compton, Aja Brown to host the Compton Food Distribution at Gonzales Park. Families in the community needed resources in these trying times. Puig, and Mayor Brown did an outstanding job of calling out businesses to ban together and help people with goods.
