The Fairfax Lions defeated the Crenshaw Cougars 74-71 in the first round of the CIF City Section Open Division playoffs. Rebounding and shooting accuracy helped the Lions secure the victory.
The Westchester Lady Comets started their postseason journey with a 61-17 victory against the Taft Toreadors. This was one of the four games that make up the first round of the City Section girls basketball Open division playoffs.

During his first year playing varsity, Los Angeles high school junior Shawn Pringle took on the onus of being the quarterback for the Romans. In the 10 games they played, Pringle made 60 passes for 1494 yards and 19 touchdowns.
The Crenshaw Cougars football team secured their first Coliseum League victory when they defeated the Locke Saints 38-0. Both teams now have a 2-6 overall record.
The Washington Generals attacked hard on offense, defense, and special teams to secure a 55-0 win over the Jordan Bulldogs. The victory gives Washington Prep a 4-2 overall record and Jordan now has a 5-2 overall record in their first Metro league loss.
The Dorsey Dons football team started Coliseum League play on a high note by thwarting the inaugural King/Drew Golden Eagles team 26-6.
The Los Angeles Romans football team survived a late rally by the Morningside Monarchs to secure a 28-26 victory at Caroline Coleman Stadium in Inglewood.
Before the start of football season, the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund and Oakley renovated the weight room at Jordan High School. Along with refurbishing the weight room, they received new equipment; the football team also received new helmets.
Dorsey senior football players Joshua Coleman and Mychai Williams were recently honored by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, John Ferraro Los Angeles Chapter. The organization hosted its 58th annual Scholar Athlete Award Banquet at Sofi Stadium; all the student athletes and their families got a tour of the stadium. The honorees were presented plaques in the Rams’ and Chargers’ locker rooms.
King/Drew senior Christopher Petit has been on the Varsity baseball team for four years. His talent and effort helped the Golden Eagles dominate the Coliseum League and reach the semifinals in the Division III City Section Playoffs.
Crenshaw junior Aammarah Gage is the captain of the Cougars’ track and field team. As she strives to improve her sprinting and hurdling, she learned how to manage the different personalities on the team so they can better themselves.
The contending season of the Dorsey softball team came to an end on Thursday when they lost 19-4 to the Orthopaedic Vipers in the first round of the Division III City Section Playoffs. The Donnas end their season with an 8-2 overall record.
