Temple Emmanuel Hosts Upward African Woman Gala, Chante Moore to Perform

Upward African Woman will host its 3rdAnnual Black Tie Gala, “Providing Pathways to Success,” on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m., at Temple Emmanuel, 8844 Burton Way in Beverly Hills. Recording artist Chante Moore will perform at the event, which benefits UAW’s educational and childcare programs for women and children in the U.S. and Africa. Also, actress Nathalie Beasnael will be the emcee. The affair will open with a red carpet, cocktail reception and silent auction.  Guests will then enjoy a three-course meal featuring traditional African cuisines from Ethiopia, Nigeria and Kenya. The awards ceremony will follow with scholarships presented to 10 girls in Accra, Ghana,

The Evolution of Bakewell Media’s Taste of Soul Festival

For 14 years, Los Angeles has enjoyed the annual Taste of Soul Family Food Festival on Crenshaw Blvd. The day-long festival presented by Bakewell Media boasts over 350,000 visitors just last year alone. Taste of Soul has become an institution in the Crenshaw community and draws people from L.A. and beyond, coming to enjoy live music and entertainment on more than five stages, delicious food from hundreds of vendors and shopping – including blocks and blocks of art, jewelry, clothing, beauty products as well as a plethora of free community services. The festival is family-friendly and known for being one of the largest and safest events in Southern California. Originally founded by Bakewell Media CEO Danny J. Bakewell, Sr. in 2005, Taste of Soul has grown exponentially over the years, and Mr. Bakewell says he can’t believe it’s been 14 years since its beginning.

Artist Melanie Fiona Brings the Vocal Sounds of Healing R&B Music to the Hyundai Soundstage  

In 2009, Melanie Fiona released her debut single “Give It to Me Right” which became the staple R&B song for all women who were in relationships or leaving from a romantic relationship. Nine years later, Fiona is still producing some of the greatest R&B hits. However this time, she is sharing her music with 350,000 people on the Hyundai Soundstage during the 13th annual Taste of Soul Family Festival.

Singer and “R&B Divas” star Chanté Moore is slated to perform on the Hyundai Soundstage for the 13th annual Taste of Soul. Hyundai recently announced that renowned journalist Roland Martin will be the host with Brian “DJ B-Hen” Henry and rap icon Kurtis Blow as the talent featured on the stage.
