Prominent Civil Rights Leader John Mack Remembered

A prominent leader wherever he went, Mack was well known for his transformative work with the Los Angeles Urban League, which he revitalized and used to aid 100,000 people annually. He made a tremendous impact on the Los Angeles community and others around the nation. His legacy stretches from Washington, D.C. to Michigan, from Atlanta to North Carolina. Mack’s activism and dedication to improving the livelihood of others was mentioned throughout the service. 

17th Annual Black College Expo hits LA Convention Center

  Thousands of students with folders of college information filled the Los Convention Center as the 17th Annual Black College Expo brought representatives from across the country to show Los Angles what historically Black colleges and universities have to offer on Sunday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The halls were full of young, Black students with gleaming eyes ready to speak to representatives of close to 100 colleges and educational programs, including Howard University, Tuskegee University and Fisk University. Black Lives Matter leader Shaun King, the next Rachel Dolezal?

On the heels of various accusations regarding the misrepresentation of his racial identity, Black Lives Matter leader and community activist Shaun King heads to twitter to defend himself.
King is being accused of lying about his racial background, claiming that he was biracial in order to qualify and receive the Oprah Winfrey scholarship to the historically Black college Morehouse by an investigative blogger.

‘Roxy’ blends Adult Themes with Moral Principles

Tasha Biltmore is known for writing and directing plays that focus on abuse, domestic violence and other issues often overlooked by traditional playwrights and directors. Her current undertaking is “Roxy”, a play about two women who run a strip club. According to Biltmore, the venue provides a good backdrop for topics she hasn’t covered, such as criminal activity, shady business deals and extortion.
