Ford Receives ACS Volunteer Leadership Award

David A. Ford is the recipient of the American Cancer Society Volunteer Leadership Award. This honor is presented to volunteers who have served as a volunteer leader for enterprise-wide programs, initiatives, or Board level committees or task forces, and to others who have provided long and distinguished service to ACS at the enterprise-wide level.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) announces the launch of “Get Screened for Cancer Day” taking place Wednesday, November 16, 2022, to highlight the need for cancer screening in the African American community and the importance of having conversations with loved ones about getting screened.

Prostate Cancer Rising in Black America 

Whether it is other philanthropists, local or regional health centers, or state and federal officials, there is a desperate need for creative solutions to getting more people screened and saving more lives. Smith’s initiative is an innovative approach, but there are other ways to spread awareness and boost screenings in the Black community.
