Equipping “Women@Work to Impact a Changing and Challenging World” is the theme and objective of the 2017 Annual Personal Development Breakfast/Conference hosted by the Business and Professional Women’s (BPW) Federation of Southern California First Jurisdiction, Church of God in Christ.
The event is set for Saturday, September 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Resort, 6161 Centinela Ave., in Culver City. The ticket donation is $40.
Dr. Wanda Barnett Street is the event chair and Attorney Sheila Bankhead Grisham is the co-chair. Serving as conference co-hosts are District Missionary Vicky Green of the West Angeles District Department of Women and District BPW President Alisha Von Lewis Honeycut.
The sessions will include “Maximizing Your Influence in a Changing World,” “Pursuing Personal Goals,” “Strategic Career Planning,” and “Finance and Retirement Planning.”
Among the presenters are Loretta Hill, vice president of Ventures & Initiatives, Center for Nonprofit Management Essentials; Attorney Joe Hopkins, publisher of the Pasadena/San Gabriel Journal Newspaper; and Dr. Sharlyn Weatherall Williams, educator; and Leah Fortson, Ph.D. and clinical psychologist. In addition, several people will be honored with BPW’s Phenomenal Women and Exemplars of Excellence award.
“We will also recognize the 60-year marriage anniversaries of Superintendent Wilbert and First Lady Lillie Jones., and Deacon Hiram and Edna Wilbourne,” said Street.
