Lyniece Cobb Blount was born to Oscar Cobb and Willie Nell Ford Cobb in Parish Alabama on February 19, 1926. She was one of three girls and one boy. Sadly, her sister died at the age of two. Lyniece’s father died at an early age and her mother died shortly thereafter.
Nichelle Nichols, who broke barriers for Black women in Hollywood as communications officer Lt. Uhura on the original “Star Trek” television series, has died at the age of 89. Her son Kyle Johnson said Nichols died Saturday, July 30, in Silver City, New Mexico. “Last night, my mother, Nichelle Nichols, succumbed to natural causes and passed away. Kevin G. Dailey, Dean of Students at Audubon Middle School, passed away on July 7. He was 66-years-old.

She often talked of her mother’s kind and sweet disposition and her love of shopping—a hobby she inherited. She frequently bragged about how her father, who spent lots of time hunting and fishing, loved her cooking.
Nation of Islam Captain Emeritus Shaheed Muhammad stood tall and strong at 6’7” in his life, which he dedicated to helping the Black man and woman of America. He passed away on May 20, and at his Muslim funeral service or janazah, many of the very men he sacrificed his life for stood just as tall for him during a special prayer service.
