Fox’s TCA 2018 presentation told us a lot in regards to Disney’s acquisition of Fox which could possibly not be finalized until sometime next year. TCA Fox also rolled out its fall lineup which included returning shows like 9-1-1 that’s executive produced by Angela Bassett, and new shows such as The Cool Kids co-starring David Alan Grier, and The Masked Singer hosted by Nick Cannon. Amongst all of that star power Fox closed with a new multi camera comedic sitcom, featuring some of Hollywood’s most funny and seasoned talent.

Since 2015 Lil Rel Howery has been flourishing in the industry and doesn’t seem to be losing momentum any time soon. This fall, Howery is to star in his new sitcom titled “Rel” co-starring Sinbad, Jess “Hilarious” Moore, and Jordan L. Jones.  “This has been the most gracious and hilarious experience I’ve ever been in in my life, just to work with this cast.” said Jordan L. Jones in reference to his experience working with the cast and crew.

Based on Lil Rel’s stand-up comedy; he portrays a successful husband and father with a life that almost seems flawless. That is until he finds out that his wife is cheating on him with his barber; leaving Rel with their son for Cleveland, his home almost empty, and without a barber.

Howery will be working again with Jerrod Carmichael who is one of the executive producers and starred with Lil Rel on The Carmichael Show.  “The perspective is a little different” Carmichael said when comparing Lil Rel’s style of comedy to his own. “Rel comes from a real personal place.” Rel takes place in Chicago where Howery is originally from, and will tackle issues that are currently going on there.  “It’s still just as honest, it’s just my type of honest.” Howery added in the comparison of the two shows.

Rel is coming off of his breakout roll in the movie Get Out in 2017; directed by Jordan Peele. In 2018 Lil Rel starred in Uncle Drew; which has been one of the top box offices features this summer. With the addition of Rel is lending his voice for the animated movie Angry Birds 2, it’s safe to say that the era of Lil Rel Howery is here.

A special preview of Rel will air on September 9th after NFL on Fox.
