The 19th Annual HUF Awards take place in a virtual presentation on Sunday, June 20, at 1 p.m. One of the longest running Father’s Day events in Los Angeles, Judge Mablean Ephriam and the Mablean Ephriam Foundation have celebrated fathers during the annual award ceremony. This year, because of Covid-19 the ceremony can be viewed on Facebook and at hufawards.com.

Honoring Unsung Fathers focuses on the often over looked efforts of fathers and provide thousands of dollars annually to assist needing students with scholarship money to go to school as well as money to keep students in school that are already there.

As usual there is an amazing show planned, filled with celebrities and entertainers alike. Mike Philips – saxophonist extraordinaire always and without a doubt will excite the audience again along with special musical guest, Karen Clark-Sheard, the legendary Grammy Award Winning artist.

In addition, media mogul Byron Allen, founder of Entertainment Studios, will receive the MEF Founders Award while Presiding Bishop Drew Sheard, chief apostle of the international Church of God in Christ Inc., will accept the Board of Directors Award.

Talent galore will be on hand, from Tiffany Haddish to Vanessa Bell-Calloway to Rene Lawless. Also, comedian Michael Colyar will return as the emcee and legendary crooner Freddie Jackson will serve as honorary chairman.

“This event is the main fund raising event to support the HUF Awards’ efforts to assist with scholarships and continuing education.  Your donations and patronage is essential this year so that no child is left behind,” said Judge Mablean.

Judge Mablean was the first African American female judge to ever preside on a nationally syndicated television show. Divorce Court is still in syndication.  Today, Judge Mablean is seen daily in her own show, “Justice with Judge Mablean.”
