Pastor Michael J. Fisher of Greater Zion Church Family and more than 100 clergy, elected officials, community leaders, and law enforcement representatives united on August 28, at 10 p.m., in an effort known as ‘#PUSH100.’
The initiative, co-titled ‘Pray and Provide,’ called for distributing food and clothing to a minimum of 100 people at 47 locations and intersections around Los Angeles County.
“We came together in agreement to not only pray, but also a clear path for those looking for a way out. We can and will make Los Angeles and the surrounding communities even better places to live and raise a family. First, we must unite like never before, and then make provisions and intercede for those who reside in these communities,” said Pastor Fisher.
The campaign was a resounding success with more than 6,000 volunteers assisting nearly 12,000 people. In addition to the participants, Fisher credited the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Police Department for their assistance in the event.
“Although this was Phase One of this initiative, the responses have been so positive, that it will be repeated to impact more neighborhoods and intersections soon,” Fisher said.
