Its been a minute since we last heard from Stephanie Mills, now she is back and ready more than ever. Mills announced that she will release her fourth album, “Breathless.” Her first new recording since her 2004 album, “Born For This.” Scheduled for release early this summer, Mills, who also worked aside Atlanta-based producers, Josiah Martin, Dave Hollister, and PJ Morton with the project, said that she was very excited about releasing the album because “Breathless” was given a 2010 sound without sacrificing her voice and vocal style.
Mills who recorded the album on her own record label, CJ Entertainment wrote eight out of 10 songs on the album. She also explained how the album is a reflection of her signature sound with a mix of soulful R& B, which describes both the beauty and sadness in relationships. Mills stated that she wrote the songs on the album due to personal experiences, she expressed how this album is all about her feelings and emotions.
In connection with the release of her new album, Mills will be headlining her second performance of the year, May 14 in relation with Shriners Hospital. The performance is a benefit concert that will help provide medical care for children 18 years and younger with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip and palate injuries all at no charge to patient or family. Shiners Hospitals for children is an international health care system of 22 hospitals dedicated to providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs.
Mills stated that she is also willing to sign autographs, if needed.
Mills is asking everyone to come out and show support for the special cause. The organization depends on the generosity of donors and funds raised by special events, such as this.
The cost to attend the concert is $70.00 and up, however every single penny raised that day will go to the hospital for that need. Headlining along side of her will be the legendary award winning instrumentalist Najee. The concert starts at 7:30p.m. at the opulent South Coast Winery in Temecula. Doors open at 5p.m., food and wine will be available for purchase. Mills who said that she is very excited about the project will also be performing some of her songs from the new album as well as some of her other hits. Her first single “Yesterday” from her forthcoming album will be performed at the event. Mills who said the song is a very special tribute song to Michael Jackson. She and Jackson were childhood friends.
“I’m looking forward to working with them, visiting the children at the hospital, and lending my talent to help raise funds so they can continue to improve the lives of the children they help,” said Mills.
