The Positive Results Corporation proudly announces our Youth Spoken Word Open Mic, Saturday, June 29, 2019, 1pm to 5pm, at the Theatre of Southwest Los Angeles College.
We look forward to over 250 young adults, age 10-21, gracing the stage and provoking thought, expressing themselves through music, visual arts, poetry, and mixed-media, utilizing inquiry and personal context to confront issues of mental health awareness. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top five participants. Everyone is welcome to the FREE event.
We welcome groups and organizations which support, empowerment, educate and provide for the wellness and emotional development of our youth to table, or sponsor this event. Please contact us directly at [email protected] or (323) 787-9252.
More than half of lifetime mental illnesses begin by age 14, and 75% by age 24; our organization believes that we need to actively target the youth demographic to create generational change in the worsening mental health crisis. PRC believes creative expression plays a major role in combating and ending self-destructive mental tendencies. We need your voice and participation to address these issues individually and collectively.
We invited Stephen G, renowned for his lyricism and praised from various outlets for his script-writing creativity, experimentation, and humor based in reality, as a special guest to share his insights.
Snacks and community service credits will be provided to youth in attendance.
Registration is open at http://bit.ly/PRCOpenMic19
