Curry Temple CME Church will host Missionary Annual Day with two services on Sunday, April 30, in its sanctuary located at 322 W. Rosecrans Ave. in Compton.
The theme is “Investing in the Future through Education, Outreach, and Service.”
“Please join the Women’s Missionary Society as they celebrate the good news of Jesus Christ,” said Pastor Joseph C. Gardner, Sr. “They do an outstanding job all year long under the leadership of Sister Robin Moten.”
Sister Cheryl Estrada will be the guest speaker for the 10:30 a.m. worship. A charter member of Curry Temple, Estrada is a gifted soloist who performs at churches and venues throughout the area. Professionally, Estrada is a realtor with Keller Williams Realty Company. Prior to that position, she worked 20+ years as a pharmaceutical sales representative where was repeatedly acknowledged as a top performer.
The Rev. Dr. Mildred Butler will bring the message at the 3 p.m. service. Appointed pastor of United Christian Church (Disciplines of Christ) in 2005, she is the first woman to lead that Los Angeles congregation. Butler completed her ministry studies at UC Berkley’s Pacific School of Religion. Also, she trained at the Statewide California Coalition for Battered Women to become a domestic violence counselor and practiced privately for five years.
