Chargers linebacker and Crenshaw alum Daiyan Henley served as the ball boy for the game, passing footballs to referees and retrieving balls after extra points were made.

Dymally battled against Crenshaw on the ground, at times finding big gains on rushing plays. Although they would reach Cougar territory, they struggled to reach the redzone. Practice is key to the defensive success of the Cougars, according to Richard.

“[In] practice, we go over plays,” Richard said. “Make sure they don’t score on us.”

On the last play of the first half, senior quarterback Sir rey Tyler-Matthews connected with junior Deance Lewis to score a 43-yard touchdown pass.

This season has been a learning experience for Dymally senior quarterback Jamon Hull. This is his first year as signal caller for the Challengers.

“The first time at the first game, I was nervous but then I started getting the hang of it and started getting better,” Hull said.

He is focused on fixing their mistakes from this contest to improve for the rest of the season.

“Instead of pushing down on each other you got to pick each other up and work on what we need to work on,” Hull said.

Both teams will be back in action on October 11 at 7:30P.M. Dymally will host the King/Drew Golden Eagles  and Crenshaw will travel to face the Dorsey Dons.
