The Church Of God In Christ (COGIC) First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southern California will hold their 103rd Holy Convocation next week.
According to Bishop Joe L. Ealy, presiding prelate, the event starts Monday, June 19 and continues through Sunday, June 25. The theme is “Why The Church Cannot Remain Silent.” The scriptural reference is Esther 4:13-14.
“We look forward to worshipping with you. We have some dynamic convocation speakers and invite the public to come out and be blessed,” said Ealy.
Worship services will be held during the week at 7 p.m., at West Angeles Church of God In Christ – North Campus located at 3045 South Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles. The preachers will be Superintendent Leo Smith, Administrative Assistant Michael Henderson, Administrative Assistant Jeffrey Lewis, Bishop Paul Morton and Bishop Frank Anthone White, respectively.
On Thursday, June 22, the Women’s Day service will begin at 9 a.m., at the West Angeles North Campus. The speaker will be Mother Barbara McCoo-Lewis, general supervisor of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. Also at 9 a.m., Ealy will hold his Bishop’s Council meeting in the West Angeles Crystal Room featuring a panel discussion on “The Sexual Revolution and Today’s Church.”
Several activities aimed at young people will take place on Saturday, June 24, starting with the Sunshine Band and Purity Class at 9 a.m. The Youth Leaders Forum will be held at 3 p.m., and the youth worship service at 6 p.m., with the message by Pastor Ryan Sims. All activities will be held at Gospel Memorial COGIC, 1480 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach.
Ealy will conclude the convocation and deliver the sermon at the Official Day service on Sunday, June 25, at 4 p.m., at West Angeles Cathedral, 3600 South Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles.
