Bishop Bobby R. Best, presiding prelate of the CME Ninth Episcopal District, will convene the Southern California Region Mid-Winter Council on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Phillip’s Temple CME Church, 973 E. 43rd St. in Los Angeles. The Rev. Bernard Jackson is the host pastor.

The conference begins with registration at 9 a.m., followed by devotion and morning worship at 9:30 a.m., featuring a message by the Rev. Rodney Wooten. The business session is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Attorney Ouida Brown will present a training session on sexual harassment from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The afternoon session resumes at 2 p.m., with the training session by Diana Winton entitled, “Are you a Good Disciple of Jesus Christ?” At 2:45 p.m., “The Importance of Tithing,” will be presented by the Rev. Keith Ellison, followed by, “Are You and Your Church Providing the Ministries Your Community Needs?” facilitated by the Rev. Dr. Mark Hardin, presiding elder of the Los Angeles District.

The conference concludes with an evening service at 7 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Charlie Hames, Jr., pastor of Beebe Memorial Cathedral CME Church in Oakland, will preach the word.
