Southern California Region of the CME Church holds their Spring Convocation and Quadrennial Celebration on April 13-14, at Lewis Metropolitan CME Church, 4900 S. Western Ave., in Los Angeles, said Bishop Bobby R. Best, 9th District presiding prelate, and the Rev. Travis Morris, host pastor. The agenda includes worship services, business sessions and leadership development training. Bishop Clement W. Fugh of the AME Fifth District will speak on April 13 at 1 p.m. On April 14, at 6 p.m., a quadrennial celebration and banquet will be held for Best and his wife, Mrs. Jacqueline Howard Best at The Foundation Center, 11633 S. Save Our Sons Prison Justice Ministry hosts “Jobs Create Peace” on April 15, at 2:30 p.m., at Crenshaw United Methodist Church, 3740 Don Felipe Dr., in Los Angeles, said Pastor Royce Porter, Sr. Deputy Probation Officer Brad Carson will discuss employment programs for people involved in the justice system, and affordable housing for families.  Call (323) 292-0141 for details.

The Company plans “The Launch: Genesis Mission Possible,” a women’s empowerment seminar, on April 18, at 9 a.m., at The Reef on the Water, 880 Harbor Scenic Drive in Long Beach, said the Rev. Westwood Presbyterian Church presents a concert featuring the compositions by Antonin Dvorak on April 22, at 5 p.m., at 10822 Wilshire Blvd., in Los Angeles. First United Methodist Church of Compton celebrates its 150th anniversary on April 29, at 3 p.m., at 1025 S. Long Beach Blvd., in Compton, said the Rev. Dr. Arnetha Inge, pastor. The theme is “150 years of Praising God in Every Place, With Every Voice and in Every Way” based on Psalm 150. The guest preacher will be Pastor Walter   R. Tucker III of Truth and Love Christian Church, a former mayor of Compton and U.S. Congressman.
