Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Friday, June 8, and Sunday, June 10, at 4909 S. Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles.
Bishop Thomas Alexander will preach on Friday, at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Bishop Shaun Davis will speak at 11 a.m., and Bishop Robert T. Douglass at 3 p.m.
The late Elder Ernest Alexander founded Bethesda Temple in 1988 with 33 charter members. Services were first held at the former Howard Johnson Hotel and Cockatoo Inn and moved after one year to Dublin Avenue School. Later, the church purchased two buildings in South Los Angeles where the congregation worshipped until settling in the edifice on Crenshaw Blvd, which was destroyed by fire in 2015.
However, Bethesda Temple members persevered and opened a new building on the site last year. With a search for a new pastor underway, the church is currently under the spiritual leadership of Elders Trent Jackson and Cedric Jackson.
