Do you remember bold, greedy, free loading Max from the hit TV show “Living Single”? The show was about four strong independent women who shared a sisterhood of friendship that was funny and real. You remember Max, she made us laugh, was smart and an attorney who fell in love with the man she hated most Kyle, and she was Khadijah’s (played by Queen Latifah) best friend.
Well Max’s real name is Erika Alexander, while still an actress Alexander is also a Hilary Clinton surrogate and her top priority right now is helping elect the first woman president of the United States. Her passion for the cause was recently felt on a call along with Addisu Demissie, Director of National Voter Outreach and Mobilization for Hillary, and Rev. Zina Pierre, Director of National African American Faith Outreach for Hillary. The team discussed what’s at stake in this election, the campaign’s national and grassroots efforts to turnout African American voters.
With 3 weeks until the election, the adrenaline is pumping, the stakes are high and every vote matters. The three discussed Hilary Clinton’s approach and focus on the African American Vote.
Grassroots has always been a priority to any successful election. The Hillary team discussed programs of engagement for African American communities which include GOTV (Get Out the Vote) outreach programs in Beauty and Barber Shops, the faith community and HBCU’s with a strong focus on battleground states.
Rev. Zina Pierre, Director of National African American Faith Outreach for Hillary discussed the campaigns faith engagement with Policy and Prayer calls every Monday where the campaign engages with Faith leaders about Policy and always end with Prayer. This week marks the Clinton Campaigns National Faith and Action Week. The faith component is also conducting national roundtables with clergy and the community with discussions that consist of race, religion and justice. The Campaign has also created “Mobilization to the Polls” with churches to get folks to early vote. Something that all churches and non-profits can do for their neighborhood or community.
California voters do not have to wait for Election Day to cast their ballot. All registered voters in Los Angeles County can vote early now at:
