Taste of Soul Scholarships are awarded for outstanding community service in the areas of education, healthcare, domestic violence prevention or sustainability.
Bakewell Media’s Taste of Soul has given thirteen $500 scholarships to youth who applied earlier this year. The following is a list of this year’s winners:
Michael Allen graduated from St. Francis High School and will be attending Morehouse College in the Fall of 2015. He plans to study Business Administration and Finance.
Alec Bailey graduated at King Drew High School and will be attending UCLA in the Fall of 2015. He plans to major in Communications with a double minor in African American Studies and Music.
Megan Copeland graduated from Junipero Serra High School and will be attending Loyola Marymount University in the Fall of 2015. She plans to major in Psychology and minor in Business.
Diandra Dillion graduated from Dorsey Miller High School and will be attending Smith College in Massachusetts. She plans on becoming an Agricultural Scientist.
Mousael Louis will be attending USC in the Fall of 2015. She was admitted under a Psychology major but states that she might change her major.
Cymone Mack graduated from View Park Prep Accelerated Charter High School and will be attending the University of California Berkeley in the Fall of 2015. She plans on majoring in Psychology.
Emily Moore will be attending UC Davis in the Fall of 2015. She plans to major in Nutritional Science in Public Health, minor in Dance and pursue her Master’s in Business Administration.
Serenity Reid will be attending a Historically Black College/University in the Fall of 2015. She plans to major in Business Administration
Caleb Smith graduated from Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and will be attending Dartmouth College in the Fall of 2015. He plans on becoming a neurosurgeon, work in underserved communities and Doctors Without Borders.
Briana Tucker graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School and will be attending the University of Notre Dame. She plans to major in Political Science and Business, attend Law School focusing on Civil Rights and Constitutional Law.
Ashley Williams graduated from Dorsey Miller High School and will be attending UCLA in the Fall of 2015. She plans majoring in Communications.
Alexandre Torres is a freshman at California State University Long Beach. He is majoring in Journalism.
